Drupal Power Weekend

I spent the whole weekend working on a Drupal project. It is a relatively simple site that a client needed real fast. I've spent the last 2 weekends (and a few weekday evenings) working on it. All in all it has been a positve experience.

The biggest timer save for me was being able to leverage a "pre-canned" template. The client liked the look of adt_bluebusiness so we modified it a little (more than i wanted to!) and went with that. One of the selling points was that they could have a custom theme developed once the site started to grow and generate adequate revenue. There are very few CMS's out there where a client can simply deploy a new theme and have a whole new site in seconds. I can't wait to see what the next version will look like.

The biggest snafu's i've run into are the little things. One item that was a huge time sink was getting TinyMCE to display properly on a narrow column. After much searching in the forms I found a solution and posted it in our resource articles section.

Another area where I spent alot of time was generating the stub pages, menu items and content. At the same time the client was actively editing. For my next project i'm going to establish a more formalized workflow where the client cannot edit page until someone from our team has signed off on both it's presence and URL location.
